90 Days of Prayer Day Forty-Three
Revelation 12:11
“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
Testimonies are important in many areas of life for the simple reason of proof. The word carries the idea of evidence, which is vital in court cases. One side produces a witness and the other side attempts to discredit that witness by exposing inconsistencies in their story. Credible witnesses give compelling testimonies.
The Devil Can’t Handle The Truth
As believers we all have a compelling testimony, which bears witness to the facts of our redemption. By living a godly lifestyle, we become credible witnesses to what Christ has done for us. Unable to discredit us Satan loses his case against us.
Your lifestyle and testimony magnifies God and provides further evidence that the devil’s been defeated. Many years ago Churches would hold testimony meetings, where their people could tell what God was doing and had done for them. Those attending were always strengthened by the stories
Jesus Invites You to Take the Stand
You come from a long line of God’s Family of families, who have a rich history of His supernatural interventions on their behalf. The fact that you have been saved and forgiven makes you an eye witnesses to His handiwork. This is the very thing we’re called to in Christ (Luke 24:48 and Acts 1:8). This is the evidence that defeats the devil.
Talking about the things that God has done for you provides further evidence that you belong to Christ, and that His Spirit is at work within you. Whether you realize it or not, your faith is contagious. People love to recount the testimonies of credible witnesses. We see it all the time in highly publicized court cases on the news. Your testimony is no less compelling.
When God answers your prayers tell the people around you about it because your testimonies are a force for good in the world. Don’t ever underestimate the power of telling others what God is doing for you. Let your answered prayers cause you to thank and praise God, and give others the chance to celebrate with you. God is magnified whenever we give our testimonies, and others respond by praising Him for it.
Be a Compelling Witness
You need to tell your story because others need to hear it. You glorify God when you tell your story and others glorify Him when they’re encouraged to seek Him all the more for hearing you. Your testimony allows others to see evidence of God working in their midst. The excitement and faith that comes from the testimonies of people you know is absolutely contagious.
Why not get together occasionally in someone’s home for a time of sharing what God has been doing among you, and praise Him for it? Use your answered prayers to tell others what God is doing for you. Be excited about telling your story, you further enforce the devil’s defeat each time you do. Take the stand and be an eyewitness to God’s great handiwork, Be a compelling witness, and Be Encouraged! -JSP
