(Adapted from Jeremiah 32:17-19)
“Almighty God, I am so thankful for your great mercy and amazing grace. You are indeed the maker of the heavens and the earth, for these did not come about by chance.
It is you who have made the heavens and the earth, and you have done so by your great power and by your outstretched arm! It is you who still hold all things together by the power of your word. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing is too difficult for you.
You have shown your steadfast love to thousands, you justify the innocent and repay the guilty, and even in this you are mercifully patient.
You are great and mighty oh God, you are the LORD of hosts. It is but a small thing for you to revive your people and reawaken a nation. Be pleased to show yourself through your Church as the One who is great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of humanity, rewarding each one according to their ways and according to the fruit of their deeds.
Be pleased to have mercy upon us, forgive your Church for where we’ve failed to be the City on the hill giving the light of your wisdom to a wayward nation, and for failing to be the preserver of good because of compromise. Be pleased to hear our humble prayer and answer from heaven your dwelling place, forgive our sins and heal our land. Amen” – JSP
