In the book of Exodus we read how God delivered the children of Israel out of Egyptian slavery. They are then supernaturally guided by the Presence of God in the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night.
Keep in mind that it is by God’s direction that they find themselves at the shores of the Red Sea with the Egyptian forces in hot pursuit.
Pi-hahiroth and Baal-zephon are mountainous regions, on either side of the Israelites encampment, with the Red sea directly in front of them.
We could only imagine their fear at the sight of thousands of Egyptian chariots and horsemen bearing down on them. They are trapped.
For Moses this is his biggest test of faith to date. He doesn’t know what God is going to do next, he’s told to “stand back and see the salvation of God” (Exodus 14:13).
Moses is instructed to raise his staff and divide the sea! They all cross over on “dry ground!” God allows the Egyptian army to continue their pursuit striking fear in the hearts of the children of Israel.
God’s great deliverance is complete by having Moses raise his staff once again, returning the sea to its place drowning the Egyptian army in the process.
Exodus 15 records Moses leading the people in a glorious Prophetic song of praise, followed by Miriam leading the women in an exuberant Prophetic song and celebratory dance of victory!
Five Thoughts on Faith and Victories
God will at times push our faith to its limits before exercising His power, granting us great victories!
Though knowing God was going to deliver the children of Israel, Moses had to walk by faith not always knowing how God would accomplish it.
God, at His discretion will sometimes lead us into a trap to reveal our hearts, before springing it on the enemy.
God desires us to believe His every word regardless of circumstances to the contrary.
We must own the fact that God is good all the time, and that in Him is no shadow of turning.
