“LORD, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells.”
David’s heart was captivated, his love for God’s Presence was no secret. God’s house was his favorite place; “the place of the dwelling of Your glory,” is what he loved the most. There in God’s Presence David found rest, he prayed, sang and played skillfully before God, who captured his heart.
The Place Where Glory Dwells
David has already been enthralled with God and His glory by the time he penned this Psalm. More accurately rendered; “Yahweh, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place of the dwelling of Your glory,” was written from many happy experiences.
God has prepared a meeting place for you, where you both can meet together. The place where His glory dwells is found in your fellowship with Christ the rock of your salvation. The place where God’s glory dwells is where you enjoy unbroken fellowship with Him. God’s home is your home!
Your home is where you live; the place where all your possessions are stored. Your dwelling is part of your identity. Everything you have placed in your home says something about you. This is where you are most comfortable and where you spend most of your life. This is a great illustration, for the place where God’s glory dwells, says something about Him.
His Presence is The Place of Rest
Resting in the shadow of the Almighty protects and covers you. Like God covered Moses with His hand while He passed by to protect him from the powerful effects of His Glory; God covers you and protects you as you make yourself at home where His Glory dwells.
At times David couldn’t contain himself, he breaks out in song in the middle of the night! He wrote; “On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings” (Psalm 63:6-7). You too, will find yourself pouring out your heart to God in song. Songs flow naturally when you’re resting secure in God’s Presence, where His Glory dwells.
Your Place is His Place
Make yourself at home in God’s Presence, the place where His Glory dwells. In fact, any where God reveals Himself is holy ground. Your house is His house, and God loves dwelling with you in it. This means your home is now resting on holy ground!
Whether you awake in the morning or the middle of the night you are still under the shadow of His wings. Be free to express yourself, and thank Him for His blessings. Welcome God’s Presence in your home where His Glory dwells, and Be Encouraged. -JSP
