Kept Safe And Found Blameless

90 Days of Prayer Day Thirty-Nine

1 Corinthians 1:8-9
“He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Until that day when Jesus returns, or we go to be with him first, the Spirit will continue the work He has begun in us.  The work of cleansing, maturing, and making us blameless in his sight! No need to fear, if we continue to trust Him, the work will be completed and we will be presented acceptable in Christ on that day.

You Were Called into Fellowship

Paul tells the Church at Corinth; “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9). This and this alone is the answer to all your problems; “God is faithful!”  He is your active partner in this fellowship, and He will see to it that your fellowship with Christ remains in tact until Jesus returns.

You can rest in the fact that this is God’s work by grace and grace alone. God Himself will enable you to eventually stand before Christ blameless and without spot. Paul prayed this for the Thessalonian Church: “May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones” (1 Thessalonians 3:13).

All who genuinely love God in Christ, will eventually stand before Him on that last day blameless.  The word faithful in 1 Corinthians 1:9 is “pistos,”   which carries the idea of being absolutely trustworthy, and reliable.  God is absolutely trustworthy, and you can rest on that fact. Trust Him completely and you will be kept secure by His power.

Secured by God’s Keeping Power

In verse 8 Paul says “He will also keep you firm to the end,”  The word “keep” here is “bebaiosei”  which means to  establish, guarantee, as well as to stabilize! Keeping you firm is God’s work not yours. Consider 1 Peter 1:3-5: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are kept by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. His grace is sufficient to keep you secure if you cooperate with Him!

Believe God is Faithful and Will Keep You as well

Believe in God’s faithfulness. Believe in His keeping power to secure and to establish you in the faith. Do not lose hope regardless of how bad thing may be. Be “confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6 ).  Be filled with hope, remain in fellowship with Him who called you, rest confidently in Him, and Be Encouraged! -JSP
