Heaven Responds to the Prayers of the Church

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Paul writing to Timothy gives us insight into the immense power that drives this great commission of ours. This power is immeasurable and unstoppable. The gates of hell stand helpless before the Church to thwart God’s initiative of world redemption.

When we consider the fact that God is neither confined nor is He impeded by time and space, we can see how easily the earth is covered with the prayers of the Church, and how heaven responds to the Church’s prayers aligned with God’s purpose, thus being empowered from above to accomplish His will.

We see an amazing scene of heaven’s response to the prayers of the Church unfolding in Rev. 5:7-10, “He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

Prayer has always been much more than a priority for God’s people, it is our lifestyle. Paul encouraged the Church to pray together without ceasing and to pray for all people everywhere.

In Revelation 5 we see that our prayers are not only received and remembered, but, acted upon with fire from heaven. Whether for family, friends, cities or nations, prayers from the Church are unceasingly interacting with the courts of heaven.

Taking time zones into consideration, and that the Church in all the world prays at different times, prayer is then going up to God from the Church every minute of every day, in every part of the world.

Our praises prayers and worship are as a pleasing fragrance to God. The whole purpose for the Church to be praying night and day is to ensure that there is not a minute of the day when the prayers of God’s people are not being offered on behalf of planet earth.

So regardless of what time of day we’re praying, whether alone or with a group, our praises and petitions are multiplied by the vast numbers of our brothers and sisters across the globe speaking to God along with us!

You and I are not alone; we’re a part of an amazing family of redeemed people the world over.  Praying God’s will being done on earth just as He designed it in heaven is a force more powerful than anything the nations can generate or withstand.

God’s ear is always attentive to the cries of His people who call to Him day and night. Hence, our prayers are an invincible force for good and our God who hears and answers is an ever present help in seasons of joy and in times of trouble. So, pray without ceasing and Be encouraged!
