In times where absolutes are frowned upon and integrity is at a premium, thinking people are frantically searching for solid ground. Solid foundations are hard to come by in a culture where placing image before substance, and personality before character is preferred. A whole generation brought up with an emotionally driven mindset given to change, is rarely satisfied with anything for very long. A myopic view of reality never comprehends the big picture for the greater good, and will always discount the thought that godliness with contentment leads to great gain; hence, the restlessness continues.
This sliding-scale value system makes it impossible to lay down a solid foundation for a meaningful existence, that can weather the storms of life, and learn from them. It’s here that the Bible still stands alone as the only sure beacon of light, that can guide people safely in the darkest night through the most turbulent waters of life. It is Jesus Christ Himself who stands alone – the only way, the only truth and the only life secure enough to weather any storm.
Building On Solid Ground
Jesus instructs the wise builders to lay the foundation of their lives on listening and practicing the very words He teaches. While many have discounted the Bible as a viable guide for living, it still remains God’s only word to humanity, and the only foundation wise people will build their lives on; all other foundations rest on the unstable ground of human opinions. The framers of our constitution understood this fact.
There have always been attacks on the integrity and credibility of the Bible as God’s word, yet in all of recorded history, there has never been an intelligent argument brought against the bible that rests upon any factual documentation. From one generation to the next the critics all come and go, and the Bible still remains the most frequently read book in the world and the only solid foundation for life to all who seek to walk genuine wisdom.
On The Road Less Traveled There is a Light
A simple (not always easy) shift in thinking changes everything. When it came to building and securing the future of his nation, Moses pointed to God’s Precepts and said; “Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?” (Deuteronomy 4:6-7)
Wisdom’s voice is still calling to all who’ll listen… “Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:
“To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all humankind. You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.” (Proverbs 8:1-5) God’s word is always a lamp for our feet and a light to our path for anyone who desires genuine wisdom.
The Bible Declares itself to be the Word of God and does not attempt to defend its inspiration. Its writings give purpose for history. Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower once stated that “The Bible is endorsed by all the ages. Our civilization is built upon its words. In no other book is there such a collection of inspired wisdom, reality, and hope.”
MODERN CONCEPT OF LAW AND ORDER
It is a verifiable fact that the Bible shaped the western world’s original concept of Law and Government. Much of our current laws and healthy concepts of morality were taken from the Scriptures. We need to revisit them to reverse our nation’s current moral collapse.
HUMAN RIGHTS
Before the spread of the gospel of the kingdom, human rights were never a consideration among the nations. It was only from the writings of the law and the prophets given to ancient Israel, that concern for such things was demonstrated. Our own Declaration of Independence recognizes that all people “are CREATED equal, and are endowed by their CREATOR with certain inalienable rights.” Our Constitution protects those God-given rights. This concept from the founding document of our nation comes from the Bible.
SUBJECTS COVERED
In the Bible; History, geography, science, politics, psychology, theology, mathematics, romance, sexuality, marriage, social studies, business, law, ethics… and more, are all explained from God’s perspective as creator. Wisdom dictates that only God who made the heavens and the earth can give humanity the meaning and the original intent for all of life.
Be Hopeful Be Optimistic
How the nation has drifted from the wisdom of our Founders. George Washington, our first President said; “It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God or the Bible,” how correct he is. That being said, I’m still optimistic. Nations have recovered from far worse by appointing days of prayer and fasting for God’s mercy and favor to be sought out. The Church faithfully proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel of the kingdom of God is the hope of the people. When the Church gets it right, She is still the city on the hill, the light of the world, the salt of the earth, and the prophetic voice of reason, leading the way for all who will listen for wisdom and follow.
