90 Days of Prayer Day-Eighty
Very Great and Precious Promises
2 Peter 1:3-4
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
Peter opens his second letter by encouraging the churches in Asia Minor with his greeting; “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). In other words, Peter is saying: “May grace (God’s undeserved favor), peace ( harmony, health and well-being), be yours in abundance (multiplied to you) through the knowledge (experienced intimacy) of God and of Jesus our Lord.” The Holy Spirit has inspired such a greeting not only to them, but for the Church in all ages!
