Leave an Active Inheritance

Psalm 102:28

“The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.”

Here the Psalmist places his confidence in the eternal God who lives forever; being fully assured that He alone can be trusted to keep watch over the future generations he has prayed for. He leaves the most valuable legacy anyone can leave; that of answered prayer for future generations yet to be born.

One aspect of the Prayer Ministry of the Church is to insure the continued advancement of God’s kingdom by praying for the success of future generations. Think about it, the effects of your prayers will remain alive and active on the earth long after you have passed on to be with the Lord.

Your words will continue to speak to generations yet to be born. Your prayers for the future are kept before God until their time to be answered arrives. God will not forget a single request you have ever made before Him in faith.

Prayers whose answers await future fulfillment are the best inheritance that you can leave your children. You can cover every aspect of the life of your decedents by praying God’s Word over their generations.

You can give your great, great grand-children an advantage in life by praying and declaring God’s promises over them now. The answers to your prayers along with the accompanying blessings will wait for them.

Future generations can live more effective and fruitful lives before God because of the prayers of their ancestors. No inheritance tax can be imposed on prayers for you decedents, no thief can break into the vaults of heaven to steal them, and no one can lay claim to any blessings that you have personally named for your future family members.

You and I are redeemed in answer to the prayer Jesus prayed two thousand years ago when he asked; “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me” (John 17:20-21).

Make praying for the future generations of family members, citizens of your city, even for the nations, a regular part of your prayer life. Begin today to secure the blessings of God on future generations. Be assured that the answers to your prayers will come up before God in their proper time, and Be Encouraged. – JSP
