Psalm 95:6-7
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care…”

You Are God’s Special Creation

Here the Psalmist invites God’s family to come together and bow down in worship before the “Lord our Maker.” He’s overwhelmed by the thoughts of such a privilege to be called by God to worship and to walk with Him, to experience His Presence His love and His grace.

In viewing all that God has made, he stands amazed at the beauty and wonder of God’s created order.  So overwhelmed by the wonder that is God, the psalmist calls the nation to bow and worship “the Lord our maker.”  A similar call to praise and worship the God who made us and calls us His own is made in  Psalm 100:3 – “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”  Sheep are not concerned about tomorrow, nor are they troubled about food and water. They know their shepherd, and they are aware he knows and cares for them, and you are no different with God!

You Are Known And Loved

You too are invited to come and bow down in worship the Lord your maker. God calls you to know Him as your maker and the Lover of your soul. The one who made you is the one who knows and cares for you. Using the analogy of a shepherd and his sheep, Jesus calls attention to this amazing fact of knowing and being known; “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep” ( John 10:14-15).  Paul reminds the Church at Corinth that they too are known and loved; “But whoever loves God is known by God” (1 Corinthians 8:3).

The idea of knowing God and being known by Him carries with it a much deeper meaning than intellectual knowledge. This is a genuine Holy Spirit revealed knowledge of God, along with His great mercy and grace toward us.  In the face of such an overwhelming gift of Divine love, You and I have only one correct response – To love and cooperate with Him who’s made himself known to us, as our maker and provider!

Let God so overwhelm you by His love and care for you that your only response will be to pour out your heart to Him in song. This is exactly the psalmist’s first reaction to the beauty and wonder of God; Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation” (Psalm 95:1).  You were made to praise and worship God!

You Were Made To Worship

When you are in a Church service your worship is simply your prayer of gratitude in song. In this environment, you come into the joyous experience of Spirit-inspired prayer and worship! While you’re drawing near to God He is drawing nearer to you. The Holy Spirit is guiding you and prompting you to sing from your heart to the Lord your maker.

It’s within your heart where the Spirit moves you to move toward God. Following the gentle promptings of the Spirit in worship, will cause everything within you to become sensitive to the tangible Presence of the Living God as He draws nearer to you. You will find that the longings of your heart are satisfied when you hear the sound of His voice speaking directly to you, like when the sheep hear their shepherd speaking to them.

You Were Made To Dwell In His Presence

The atmosphere becomes charged with the Presence of God as the Church comes together in worship with one heart and one mind to magnify the King of Kings. A sacred reverence and awe seem to sweep over the people gathered together seeking the face of God; being drawn to His presence by the power of united worship focused on Him alone. The collective response seem s to be to “bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.”

So come together and bow down to worship the Lord your maker. He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him in song. God will overwhelm you in His Presence, He will lift you in His love, and satisfy the deepest longings of your heart, Understand that you belong to God, are known and cared for, and Be Encouraged! -JSP
