Taught By The Spirit

90 Days of Prayer Day Twenty Seven

Taught By The Spirit
“This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.” 1 Cor. 2:13
We know from the bible that God speaks to those who pray. Why would we be surprised to learn that God regularly speaks with those who speak with Him?

In the Scriptures there are many instances where God has spoken to a group of people who were gathered together in prayer.

In every case where God has spoken, He released wisdom, knowledge, and insight which was previously hidden from those seeking Him.

We find that God’s wisdom is released for the purpose of knowing and understanding things, He’s freely given us in Christ (verse 12).
Paul’s statement in our passage above is a continuation of his thoughts from verse 6, where he lays out the difference between spiritual and natural wisdom. Paul was led by the Spirit to preach what he did the way he did.

He was simply following Jesus who taught His followers the same way saying; For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” ( John 12:49-50)
Genuine Wisdom Comes From Above
The word “wisdom” is the Greek word “sophia” meaning skill, or living skillfully. The reality of spiritual things belong to believers who walk in the Spirit with God.

In verse 13 the words “speak” and “explaining” are present tense, meaning continual action – a lifestyle. Like Jesus, the Church, led by the Spirit, is equipped to continue speaking and doing what the Spirit is speaking and doing.

The Church is dealing with wisdom from above which the world all too often misunderstands because it has no access to it. How often have you read these words in the bible “He that has an ear let him hear.”

At least seven times in the Book of Revelation alone the Churches were told to “Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches.”

Jesus in John Chapter Ten says “My sheep hear my voice.” So you can see that hearing from God is quite normal for the genuine Biblical believer.
Solving Natural Problems With Supernatural Insight
The Church is as Jesus stated; the salt and light of the world. Salt preserves, and light shows the way in darkness. How important it is for the entire Church to hear God’s voice, and be guided by what The Spirit is saying.

The whole world depends on the wisdom of God that comes through the Church for its survival – whether it knows it or not. The world attempts to solve its problems with conventional wisdom, not knowing that there are spiritual influences behind the issues.

The Church knows that people are not the source of the world’s problems. We are instructed to avoid wrestling with flesh and blood, and to be praying in the Spirit at all times (Ephesians 6:10-18).
God desires you to be among those who know the realities of the Kingdom, hidden from this world until the Church explains them. He wants you to receive revealed Wisdom and knowledge from His Holy Spirit.

Your life, as well as the lives of those around you, will change dramatically by you following what the Spirit is saying to the Church.

What God gives to you He intends to be communicated through you. We the Church are still the City on the hill, shining the light of the Glory of Christ to those in the valley of darkness.
Whatever The Spirit is saying to the Church, He is saying to you… So, for the sake of a lost and hurting world, Be filled with the Spirit, Be always asking God for wisdom, Let your light shine before others, and Be Encouraged! -JSP
